As we prepare to start the 2019-2020 school year we want to welcome everyone back to school and back to DECA. We have many exciting opportunities awaiting us for this school year. As always, the first step is to complete your membership application and pay your $20 dues to Mrs. Everett, Mrs. Perdue, or Mrs. Cullins. Any returning DECA members that are interested in serving as a DECA officer for 2019-2020 needs to follow these steps:

1. Complete the Officer Application   Due date is 9/18

2. Pick up a paper teacher reference form from Mrs. Everett or Mrs. Perdue.  A CHS teacher must complete and the teacher or you must turn in the form to Mrs. Everett or Mrs. Perdue by 9/18. Teachers can not be business, marketing, or anyone from the guidance department.

3. Qualified applicants will be asked to attend an interview during the last week in September.

* Please note you must be a 10-12th grader to apply as well as you must have been a member of DECA last year to be eligible.

 

American Heart Association – Upcoming Events

DECA has several upcoming events coming up to raise money for the American Heart Association. Please help support us in the following ways:

  • Buy a 50/50 raffle ticket at the home basketball game on January 25

  • Participate in the “Strike Out Heart Disease” Bowling Tournament at Rainbow Lanes on January 31

  • Buy a “SweetHeart” lollipop during our lollipop sale starting January 28

  • Buy a AHA wristband to get out of school 10 minutes early on February 1

  • Wear red to support the American Heart Association on “National Wear Red Day” on February 1

DECA Districts Study Sessions

DECA MCEC Participants:

In order for everyone to be prepared for the district competition, we will hold study sessions in November. If you are going to districts you must attend 1 of the 3 study sessions. You are welcome to come to more but you must attend 1.  At the study session, you will learn more about the MCEC agenda, how to prepare for the test, and tips to do well at the roleplay event. You will also receive several permission forms that must be returned to Ms. Perdue in order to attend. Later, we will send out the testing schedule. All participants must take the DECA test in order to attend the event in Raleigh. A mandatory meeting will be held for all students attending districts on Monday, November 27. Listed below are the November study sessions.

Thursday, November 2 – Comet B –  Mrs. Everett’s room  (1st time competitors only)  and Mrs. Perdue’s room (everyone else)

Thursday, November 9 – Comet B – Mrs. Perdue’s room (teams) and Mrs. Cullins’ room (individual competitors)

Thursday, November 16 – Comet B – Mrs. Everett’s room  (individual competitors) and Mrs. Cullin’s room (teams)
